NEWTOWN
ANGLING CLUB
Newtown Angling Club whilst based in the Bracknell area draws
its membership from all over the South of England. The Club,
which has around eighty members, was formed in the mid-sixties
and enjoys full affiliation to the Reading & District Angling
Association (R&DAA) and Basingstoke Canal Angling Association
(BCAA). This entitles its members access to a comprehensive
range of coarse fisheries for both pleasure and competition
angling.
The Club holds regular outings to most R&DAA venues, mainly
on the River Kennet and the Kennet & Avon Canal between
Reading and Padworth. We also fish their stretches of the River
Thames at Mapledurham, Wallingford and Bablock Hythe as well
as a number of their gravel pits at Pingewood, Theale and Newbury
- all first class waters with good sport and quality fish of
all species. Outings to the Basingstoke Canal are also included
on the itinerary.
There are adult and junior championships to be competed for
throughout the season along with many other trophies awarded
for individual matches and specimens.
Monthly Club meetings are held at the “Winkfield Club”, Winkfield
Row, Bracknell, Berks commencing 8.30 pm on the second Tuesday
of each month – attendance by associate members is not obligatory
but all members are welcome.
