COMPETITION RULES

1. Club matches will be fished as ‘Pegged Down’, unless otherwise agreed.

2. The draw will commence one hour before the agreed staring time.

3. Each member participating in the competition will draw a number and fish at the peg corresponding to that number for the duration of the match.

4. A re-draw can be granted only in the case of a peg being declared unfishable by the Match Secretary and at least one other witness. Application for a re-draw must be made within one hour of the start of the match.

5. Any competitor wishing to move to a vacant peg, or swim, on the match venue may do so but any fish caught by that competitor will not count in that competition.

6. A swim shall start one yard upstream of the anglers peg and terminate a yard above the position of the next angler or peg downstream. Wherever practical, the minimum distance between each peg will be 15 yards.

7. The water must not be broken before the start of the match except for soaking of ground-bait, plumbing the depth by float tackle only and the positioning of bank-sticks and keep-nets.

8. Anglers must fish from the bank or, if they stand in the water, must be in a position to touch the bank with part of their body.

9. The match will start and finish at a signal from the Match Secretary and/or his appointed deputy.

10. All fish will be weighed in at the anglers peg by means of the official Club scales.

11. All fish eligible for weighing in will be the same as those eligible in the current R&DAA match rules.

12. Competitors may double draw if required and the current R&DAA ruling will apply i.e. there must be one peg between the pair, the senior member to be downstream.

13. Optional pools will be run by the Match Secretary, or a designated member, on all Club matches as required. Pools are to be entered before the draw with the exception of latecomers who must enter the pools, if required, before commencing fishing.

Pools will be divided in the ratio of 50:30:20. Should less than three weights be recorded in the pool, the prize money will be divided 60:40 or 100% whichever applies. Should no weights be recorded the appropriate pools money will be retained as free entry to the pools of the following match. Any angler not fishing the following match will forfeit his pools money.

14. Any infringement of the preceding rules may render a member liable to disqualification.

15. The Match Secretary’s decision on all disputes will be final.

Notes:

Club members who have pre-booked to fish a Club match will have preference at the draw should the number of pegs be restricted (e.g. when the number of anglers at the draw exceeds the number of available pegs).

Pegging fees will be charged to non-members participating in Club matches.

Club members and their guests wishing to fish The Charlie Johnson Christmas Match must pre-book at least one week in advance of the event. Guests shall not be eligible to compete for prizes and trophies, but may enter pools if required.

Any Club member may fish a venue booked by the Club once the match is competed.
